Biography

One of the brightest young stars in Australian sport, Cambage has announced herself as the face of the next generation of talent to lead the Australian Opals into a new era.

Emerging on national team scene in 2008, Cambage quickly established herself as an Opals regular, earning selection for the 2010 FIBA World Championships.

It was her performances for the Bulleen Boomers that drew major plaudits, helping the team win their first WNBL Championship in club history and claim the 2011 WNBL MVP. If that wasn’t enough, Cambage joined the growing number of Australians in the WNBA, taken at number two overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2011 WNBA Draft.

The eyes of the world were on Cambage in London as she became the first player ever to dunk in women’s Olympic competition on her way to helping the Opals win the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Coming off a memorable debut season in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) that saw her led the Zhejiang Far East team to the WCBA Finals, Cambage returned to the WNBA and enjoyed her most productive season with the Shock.

Injury brought an early end to her campaign, before returning to China – this time with Beijing. Cambage enjoyed another outstanding season, becoming a WCBA All-Star for the second time.

Cambage announced her return to the WNBL, signing for her junior club the Dandenong Rangers for the 2014/15 season.

The talented centre moved to back to China in 2015, signing with Shanghai Baoshan Dahua in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association before being named in the Opals team for Rio 2016.

Taking some time off following the Olympics, Cambage then returned to the court for the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL and led them to the Grand Final while making the All-Star Team.

That form carried her back into the WNBA where she starred for the Dallas Wings, breaking the WNBA record for points in a game with an incredible 53-point performance while also helping the Wings reach the playoffs.

For the Opals, Cambage was a dominant presence as they advanced through the Commonwealth Games undefeated to win a gold medal. Following the Games, Cambage helped lead the Opals at the 2018 FIBA World Cup where she averaged 23.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Cambage's best performance came in the semi-final against host nation Spain where she posted 33 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Opals to an enthralling six-point victory to help book the Opals' place in the Gold Medal game.

The Opals would eventually fall to the USA in the final with the Opals claiming the Silver medal as Cambage was named to the tournament All-Star Five.

In 2019, Cambage requested a trade from the Dallas Wings. In May 2019, Cambage's request was upheld as she was traded to the Las Vegas Aces just two weeks out from the WNBA season.
