FIBA names Bec Cole as one of '10 women who defined 3x3 in 2019'

Australian 3x3 player Bec Cole has been named by FIBA as one of ‘10 women who defined 3x3 in 2019’.

Cole competed in seven 3x3 events in 2019, representing Australia in four of those events and walking away with six wins. The single event where she did not receive first-place honours was at the 2019 FIBA World Cup where the Australian team finished fourth after a heartbreaking loss to China in the semi-finals. Despite the loss, Cole was still the top scorer from the event.

The 27-year-old was awarded as the Most Valuable Player at the 2019 FIBA Asia Cup, playing a key role in the team’s gold medal finish with 34 points overall in the tournament.

She is currently ranked 44 on the individual 3x3 world ranking list with Australia currently ranked 28 on the 3x3 federation world ranking list.

The Australian women will next compete in FIBA’s 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT), to be held in India from the 18th to 22nd of March 2020. The team will compete against 19 teams in the OQT, for a top 3 finish to book a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The FIBA 3x3 OQT will be available to watch via live stream, with specific live streaming details to be provided closer to the event in March.
