The agreement enables SportsLink International to offer fans the best experiences in witnessing upcoming international tournaments for all of Basketball Australia’s national teams.
That includes the FIBA World Cup for the Opals later this year in Spain, the Boomers in China 2019, the IWBF World Championships in Germany this August for the Rollers and Gliders as well as the landmark Boomers vs. USA Basketball games in August 2019 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.
In addition, junior World Championships for Basketball Australia’s Under-19 and Under-17 men’s and women’s teams are included as well as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
“This is an exciting partnership for Basketball Australia as it will assist supporters, friends and family of our players to have access to a one-stop-shop for all their travel needs,” said Anthony Moore, Basketball Australia CEO.
“As a global sport, this is a great opportunity to provide access to attend basketball events around the world with the convenience and ease of booking through SportsLink International.”
"After looking after several of the families and supporters of the Boomers and Opals at the London and Rio Olympics, we are really excited about our longer-term partnership with Basketball Australia,” said Paul Kelly, SportsLink International Managing Director.
"I have always been a basketball fan. The opportunity to now work closely with Basketball Australia is really exciting and to be part of future supporter groups cheering on our players and teams will certainly be a highlight.
"With so many of our Australian teams challenging for World Championship and Olympic medals and a growing number of our players competing at the highest level in leagues around the world, we want to help showcase this to fans.
“As well as our tours to key events such as Tokyo 2020 and all the various World Championships, we have already starting planning tours to see our Australian players in the NBA, WNBA & NCAA each year.
We look forward to providing opportunities for families, friends and all basketball fans to take in the biggest and best tournaments around the world each year. It is a really exciting period coming up for basketball over the next few years."
