Helping to expand the inclusive experience that community basketball provides over 500,000 children in Australia each year, the new website can be found here.
Whether coaching a Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops program or Basketball Australia’s National Performance Program (NPP), the National Coaching Resource offers practical guidelines to coaches that will give them confidence that the information they are teaching their players is setting them on the path to represent their country in the green and gold.
Coaches can discover development activities in their region and store them in their e-calendar as well as watching an extensive video library of coaching clinics from FIBA, Basketball Australia and each State/Territory Association.
The website also includes blogs and fact-sheets from Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence staff and other contributors for those in search of a quick visit.
"Basketball Australia is committed to supporting coaches at all levels of the sport and we feel this site will be a valuable resource for our coaches,” said Basketball Australia’s Head of High Performance Coach Development, Peter Lonergan.
The announcement coincided with a coaching clinic at the Australian U14 Club Championships in Dandenong; a panel discussion on “Tournament Coaching” featuring Deanne Butler, Darren Perry, Grant Wallace and Peter Lonergan.
The resource can be accessed at www.coach.basketball.net.au.
