LAUNCH OF BASKETBALL AUSTRALIA REFEREE WEBSITE

In conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission and State Sporting Organisations, Basketball Australia has implemented a referee educational framework that provides very clear learning for beginner referees right up to senior domestic referees.

You can view the program via the Basketball Australia website here.

While grassroots participation levels within basketball continue to boom, the lack of nationally unified referee development is an issue which this program addresses as a national, online referee education program that will provide assessments, exams, workbooks and PowerPoint presentations at four levels of development:

Community (Level 0)

Development (Level 1C)

Intermediate (Level 1B) and

Advanced (Level 1A).

BA Referee Pathway

All resources are available to view online or downloadable as hard copies.

The program can only be delivered by (or with approval from) associations with state recognised referee educators.

"Importantly, the national online referee development program provides instructors and referees across the country with resources containing nationally unified competencies, levels and pathways," said General Manager of Competitions, Paul Maley.

"It’s a great step forward in better servicing the needs of both rural and metropolitan competitions and in the attraction and retention of more young referees.”
