The Utah Jazz announced today that Dante Exum will be unavailable to join the Boomers squad in preparation for the Olympics and will instead focus on rehabilitation.

Boomers Coach, Andrej Lemanis, has been in constant contact with the medical and coaching staff at the Jazz as well as with Exum.

“I’m really proud of Dante and the effort he gave to try and get back in time for the national team," said Lemanis.

"It is clearly evident just how much it means for him to play for his country and I’m really disappointed for him that he won’t be having the Olympic experience this time around.

"The frustration and disappointment was evident in his voice when we spoke yesterday – it was heart breaking.

"The health of the athlete is always the number one concern and consideration. Whilst we are all disappointed he won’t be with us this year, I know that he has a tremendous international career ahead of him.

"I look forward to watching him return to play with the Utah Jazz during the upcoming season. I also look forward to seeing him once again wear the green and gold Australian singlet in the future.”
