The loss means Australia will now play either South Korea or France in the battle for 7th place on Sunday night AEST.
With Mark Watkins trialing different line-ups and sharing the minutes around the entire team, Australia found themselves down by 15 points at the first break.
While the lead continued to balloon as the match wore on, the Aussies were able to salvage the scoreline slightly by winning the fourth quarter 16-10.
All 12 players hit the scoreboard and while 29 turnovers was a major obstacle, they did win the offensive rebound count and improved their free-throw shooting as a team to hit 11-17.
Collecting 12 points and nine rebounds, Samson Froling was again highly efficient from the field, hitting 5-7.
He was joined in double-figure scoring by Sean MacDonald (ten points), while captain Tom Fullarton added nine points, five rebounds and five assists and Mate Colina recorded five points, a steal and a block.
