BOOMERS ANDERSEN AND MOTUM COMPETING IN FINALS IN EUROPE

Australian Boomers David Andersen and Brock Motum have both advanced to the finals of their respective leagues as the European seasons come to a close.

As the starting centre for ASVEL, Andersen has helped his team move into the final round of the French Pro A League.

In a season that has already seen Andersen named to the LNB All-Star game, he is averaging 10.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

ASVEL took care of Monaco in four games and have now set up a series against Strasbourg which begins this weekend.

Having split their regular season meetings 1-1, expect a tight battle for the Championship.

Andersen was relatively quiet in the Semi-Finals but collected 12 points and four rebounds in Game 2 to finish with an average of 6.5 points and four boards for the series.

Over in Lithuania, Zalgiris Kaunas are locked in a tight battle with Neptunas in the Finals, currently leading the series 2-1.

Neptunas boasts an Australia, Angus Brandt who was named in the Rio Olympics squad, while Zalgiris owns Motum.

In Game 1, Brandt flexed his muscle with 16 points but Zalgiris recorded the win as Motum impressed off the bench with eight points and four rebounds in just 13 minutes.

Neptunas exacted their revenge in Game 2 as Motum was held to just a point before Zalgiris cruised to a Game 3 win yesterday as the Boomers forward added eight points on 2-3 three-point shooting.

Zalgiris will have the chance to finish off the seven-game series early next week as they aim to record a remarkable sixth straight Championship.
