Dr Cicognani takes up the position as an appointed Director on Basketball Australia’s Board for a four year term.

In announcing the appointment, Rob Marcolina, Basketball Australia Chair, welcomed Dr Cicognani’s expertise in digital media & marketing as well as business strategy.

“With a significant career in digital technology and a leader of highly complex projects in the corporate sector, we are thrilled to have Anna join our Board,” Marcolina said.

With a PhD in Virtual Environments & Internet-based Communities, Dr Cicognani joins Basketball Australia at a time when fan interest in the sport is booming thanks to a record number of Australian Boomers playing in the NBA, Australian Opals chasing more medal success at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio and the resurgence of the NBL.

With Basketball Australia about to start transformational projects such as national registration system to capture its more than 1,000,000 registered participants, Dr Cicognani’s appointment and expertise is sure to be welcomed by all stakeholders in the sport.

At Basketball Australia’s Annual General Meeting held in November 2015, Brian Delaney was elected to the Board for a four year term.

A connection to the sport spanning over 30 years as a player and a coach as well as the experience as a board advisory member of the WNBL’s Sydney University Flames, Mr Delaney is well placed to assist the Basketball Australia Board.

As an Executive Director of a large private wealth management business and with a considerable career in the financial services sector Mr Delaney adds financial management strength to one Australia’s largest participation sports.

“Brian brings a host of management experience and knowledge to the Board table, has been in a number of Board discussions since late November and I am impressed with his contributions already.” Marcolina added.
