On the opening day of the U20's Championship, no team was able to distance themselves on the ladder in what is shaping up to be a tight tournament.

For the Men, Vic White were the only side to play twice as they followed a loss to Queensland with a victory over ACT. Deng Mayot (15 points, 13 rebounds) led the way for Queensland in their victory.

With 34 points from Isaac White and 20 from Jacob Rigoni, SA were the only team to hit the century mark as they took care of NSW 101-90.

In the Women's division, both Victorian teams and Queensland were victors on Day 1. Vic Navy showed they will be a tough side to beat in the key as four players reached double-figures in rebounding led by Georgia Pineau (18 points, 10 boards) while Zitina Aokuso's 22 points and 14 rebounds led five Queensland players in double-figures scoring.

Vic Country had a mixture of fortunes in the Ivor Burge Men Championship, beating WA by 37 before falling to SA by 39. NSW were the other victors on the day, reaching 100 points against ACT as Dean Pallier stuffed the stat-sheet with 28 points, eight rebounds, five assists and six steals.

For the Ivor Burge Women, NSW proved too good for SA while Vic Metro got the better of interstate rivals Vic Country. Vic Metro shared the scoring duties between eight players as Jasmine Dellas (eight points, nine boards, six assists) flirted with a triple-double while Nicole Harris exploded for NSW with 33 points and 24 rebounds including 15 offensive boards.
