Deng Adel: An MCL injury will see Adel miss at least two weeks for the Louisville Cardinals in a frustrating start to the season for the freshman forward. Through two games, he was averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds but missing their best and strongest defender, as stated by his team mates, the Cardinals could begin to suffer with him on the sidelines.
Abiola Akintola: Playing for the 5-2 University of Denver Pioneers in his freshman year, Akintola has hit the court for just two minutes this season but at 198cm and 100kg, his presence is sure to be felt in the front court soon as he finds his place within the team.
George Blagojevic: As a freshman for the University of Hartford Hawks, Blagojevic burst on to the college scene with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals in his debut. He is shooting 52% from the field and 56% from the three-point line in eight games while scoring 13 points but the Hawks are just 3-5 so far.
Xavier Cooks: In four of his first five games as a sophomore for the Winthrop Eagles, Cooks has reached double-figures in scoring to average 14.4 points with 7.4 rebounds and a block per game. Although still early, his three-point shot has improved to 31% shooting so far this season.
Josh Derksen: An ankle sprain has seen Derksen miss the entirety of Bellarmine University’s season so far but a 4-2 record is a strong start for the Knights. The junior is the top returning scorer returning for the team this year after collecting 12 points a game in 2014-15 and as witnessed by the clip below, can dunk!
Anthony Drmic: Drmic has returned to the Boise State Broncos as a senior after playing just seven games last season due to an ankle injury. So far this year, he has started every game he has played, averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game while shooting 41% from beyond the arc.
Nicholas Duncan: Alongside Drmic at Boise State, Duncan has played all seven games for 13 points, four rebounds and two assists a game. His defence has also been a highlight of 2015-16 so far, collecting the second most amount of steals for the Broncos.
Felix von Hofe: Taking a step up for the Eastern Washington University Eagles as a junior this year, von Hofe has almost exceeded his point totals from his two previous seasons in just five games. Bumping his career point average from 4.0 to 14.9, the forward’s rebound and assist numbers have also doubled.
Isaac Humphries: Coming off the bench for the University of Kentucky, the 214cm forward has played four games for 3.3 points and more than a block per game this season.
Jordan Hunter: One of several Australians playing for Saint Mary’s College, Hunter has come off the bench to play in all four games. Although he is averaging just three points in limited opportunities, his 67% field goal shooting is a promising start.
Jackson Hussey: Through nine games for the University of Pikeville Bears, Hussey has reached double figures twice on his way to 6.1 points a game in his senior year while owning an impressive ratio of three assists for every turnover.
Tanner Krebs: Signed as a freshman for Saint Mary’s, Krebs has not seen any court time yet but his sure to be a long-term prospect for the side as an offensive powerhouse in the back court.
Jack McVeigh: A perfect 4-4 from long range in his debut for Nebraska, McVeigh finished with 16 points in just 13 minutes. He has consistently kept the scoreboard ticking over since, shooting 43% from the three-point line.
Gerard Martin: Martin will be enjoying his limited opportunities with the Grand Canyon University Antelopes so far as they are unbeaten through five games. He has recorded 4.4 points and 2.8 assists a game while showing his capability from beyond the arc as a freshman.
Emmett Naar: Leading Saint Mary’s for scoring with 18.5 points a game while shooting 65% from the field and 64% from long range (first in the country), Naar burst onto the scene with a 27-point debut on 7-11 long range shooting. Since then, he has poured in at least 15 points every game while averaging 6.3 assists and two steals.
Dane Pineau: The final of the four men playing for Saint Mary’s, Pineau leads the club with 7.5 rebounds a game to go along with 8.3 points and 1.5 blocks. His work on the offensive glass is even more impressive, recording 3.8 offensive boards as a Junior.
Ben Simmons: Already making headlines around the world for his play with Louisiana State, Simmons is averaging an absurd double-double of 19.7 points and 14.9 rebounds. He suffered a couple of lean games in the scoring department as the Tigers lost three straight but bounced back quickly with a stat-line of 43 points, 14 boards, seven assists, five steals and three blocks in an overtime win.
Cade Towers: Towers is coming off the bench as a sophomore for the Georgia South-Western State University Hurricanes. The side is currently 5-2 with the forward having scored in all but one of their matches so far.
Louise Brown: Brown has been a dominant force in the paint for the Washington State University Cougars, leading them in rebounds three times already as they have started their season 6-1 while recording a season-high of 12 points.
Stephanie Collins: Starting the season with a double-double set the tone for Collins as a sophomore for the Southern Methodist University Mustangs, as she is averaging 10.3 points and over two offensive boards per game. Protecting the paint, she is also collecting more than three blocks a game in an exceptionally impressive defensive performance.
Alicia Froling: Alongside Collins at SMU, Froling leads the club with 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds, having started all six games of the season. After pacing the Mustangs with free throw shooting last year, she is again shooting a hot 88% from the charity stripe and sitting second in blocks behind Collins with 1.7 a game.
Keely Froling: Suffering a season-ending injury last year, Froling has been unable to return to the court this season as the final part of the Aussie triangle at SMU. The sophomore is expected to return in the coming weeks though, joining her sister Alicia.
Carly Turner: Turner has played all six games for Saint Mary’s in her sophomore year, averaging 11 minutes a contest. Her pure stroke has seen her hit 100% from the free-throw line as her club has started the season 5-1.
Nicole Seekamp: In her final year with the University of South Dakota Coyotes, Seekamp has improved from a slow start to record games of 16 and 20 points in her last two outings. She finished just short of a triple-double in that most recent match, finishing with eight rebounds and ten assists while averaging 2.3 steals on the season as well.
Demi Skinner: Skinner has been unable to get her three-point shot to fall so far this year for Chipola Athletics but she is still adding 5.8 points a game while pulling down 1.6 offensive rebounds for a team that has started 7-1.
Alanna Smith: Shooting a team-high 53% from the field and an impressive 42% from long range for Stanford University, Smith is developing her game nicely off the bench as a freshman. She also sits fifth for the team in offensive rebounds and third for blocks.
Kristy Wallace: Baylor University are undefeated through nine games, regularly thrashing their opponents and Wallace has scored in double-figures in five of those clashes. Her best game came against DePaul University when he recorded 11 points, nine assists, three rebounds and two steals.
