2015 AUS SCHOOL CHAMPS DAY 3 RECAP

The matchups for the playoff rounds have now been set after another competitive day of basketball at the 2015 Australian School Championships in Canberra.

Maribyrnong College squeezed out a one-point victory behind a clutch free throw from Amy Smith with five seconds to play against Bendigo Senior Secondary College to remain alive in the Under-20’s Women division.

32 points from Lachlan Evans led the Willeton High School Under-20’s Division 1 men over Point Cook Senior College and into the top two of pool B.

Damascus College managed a 5 point win over Rockingham SHS behind strong performances from Freya Maude and Ashlee Smith which secured their first win of the tournament in the Under-17 Girls Division 2.

Lake Ginninderra College proved dominant in the Championship men in their matchup of unbeaten teams against Sydney Boys High to claim first in their pool.

Ignatius College remain in hot form and avoid the cross over Semi-Final against the local boys with Will Mcdowell-White putting up possibly the game of the tournament to date with 43 points, 15 rebounds and four assists.

In the women’s competition, Box Hill came from behind in the second half to claim the win and first place in Pool A while Westfields Sports High managed to sneak into second.

In pool B John Paul College got the surprisingly comfortable win against St Joseph’s Catholic College but both teams will progress to the semi-finals.
