NATIONAL REFEREE PROGRAM TRAINING

NATIONAL REFEREE PROGRAM TRAINING

FIBA Head of Refereeing, Carl Jungerbrand, will conduct a series of training camps between September 19-23 in Melbourne and Sydney in a unique opportunity for Australian referees.

Furthering the prospect of enhancing the referees in the Oceania region, the training camps will focus on basketball refereeing philosophies, mechanics, techniques, conflict & conversation management and game control.

On Saturday September 19, the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne will host three training and development sessions before another three will be held on Sunday.

Additionally, there will be guest speakers, ‘break-out’ sessions to discuss specific details for the season, a FIBA physical fitness test and closed book written rules exam.

On Monday, SEABL and Big V panel referees and referee coaches will attend an evening session at the State Basketball Centre before SEABL and Warratah panel referees and referee coaches attend an evening at the Sydney University Aquatic Centre in Sydney on Tuesday.

The visit will mark the beginning of a proposed referee educational development program with Jungerbrand returning to Australia and New Zealand early in 2016 for further training camps prior to the commencement of state based leagues.

Attendance by all WNBL and NBL referees is compulsory, contact your head of programming to discuss availability.
