U25 Australian Devils set for IWBF World Championships

The Australian Devils wheelchair team will head to Beijing this weekend to compete in the Under-25 IWBF World Championships, held from June 29-July 7.

All ten members of the side competed in the 2015 WNWBL season. Veterans Sarah Vinci, Georgia Inglis, Natalie Alexander and Amber Merritt were silver medallists at the 2011 Under-25 World Championships and all competed in the Be Active Western Stars WNWBL side this year.

Ella Sabljak was also a part of that successful side and she will be accompanied by Minecraft Queensland Comets teammate Georgia-Bishop Cash who is just 14 years old.

From the Sydney Uni Flames, Catherine Nelson will experience her first international tournament while Hannah Dodd and Jess Cronje are relatively new acquisitions who competed at the Osaka Cup earlier this year.

Rounding out the list, Georgia Munro-Cook had an outstanding season for the Stacks Goudkamp Bears, improving her point production by nine per game while recording ten double-doubles to lead the competition in boards.

Playing five group stage matches in five days, Australia will face Japan in their opening clash with Great Britain, Germany, China and Canada to follow. As the USA are not attending, Australia will be looking to go one step further than their silver medal from 2011.
