ABC TV - Home of the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women

The Jayco Australian Opals begin the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women against Cuba on Saturday night LIVE on ABC2 – the home of the Jayco Opals World Championship campaign.

In a coup for Australian basketball fans ALL Jayco Opals games will be broadcast LIVE and IN FULL on ABC2 as they take on the world’s best in Turkey.

Adding to the comprehensive ABC coverage of the FIBA World Championship for Women will be a feast of finals basketball, with select games from the Quarter Finals through to the Gold Medal Game.

Headlining the commentary team in Turkey will be WNBL Life Member Narelle Fletcher alongside the voice of Australian basketball in John Casey.

Providing all the analysis and insight will be the in-studio team, headlined by Jayco Opals legend Rachael Sporn alongside Boomers great Phil Smyth and host Stephanie Brantz.

Jayco Australian Opals Head Coach Brendan Joyce said the ABC has provided fans with the opportunity to be a part of the Opals journey at the World Championships.

“It’s brilliant for the team over here knowing that all of Australia will be watching on ABC2 and cheering us on in Turkey,” Joyce said.

“ABC has been a long-time supporter of the Opals and the WNBL, with their coverage of the World Championships another great opportunity to sports fans to see our stars in action against the world’s best.

“We know come Saturday night and our opening game against Cuba we will have Australian sporting fans glued to the TV supporting us all the way.”

Action gets underway on Saturday night at 9:10pm AEST on ABC2 when the Jayco Opals take on Cuba.
