Ingles set for third-straight Euroleague Final Four

Australian Boomers star Joe Ingles is heading back to the Euroleague Final Four for the third straight season after his Maccabi Tel-Aviv defeated Milan 86-66 last week to secure a 3-1 quarter final series victory.

The two-time Olympian and his Israeli team will face Russian giants CSKA Moscow in their semi-final on May 16 in Milan – hoping to help the club advance to their sixth Euroleague Final in the past 11 years.

After finishing third in their Top 16 group, Maccabi Tel-Aviv drew a Milan team set on securing a home Final Four berth. Despite not having the home court advantage in the best-of-five-game series, the Israeli team produced a big road win in Game 1 before returning to Tel-Aviv to wrap up the series with back-to-back home victories.

The Euroleague Final Four is not unfamiliar territory for Ingles, who was part of the FC Barcelona team that reached the same stage last season, falling to fellow Spanish giants Real Madrid in the semi-final.

Ingles has been a regular in the Euroleague since his move from CB Granada to Barcelona in November of 2010, helping the Catalan club to the quarter final stage in 2011 before back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2012 and 2013.

The move to Maccabi Tel-Aviv saw Ingles join one of the most successful clubs in European basketball. The club has made the Israeli league their own, winning 48 league titles and two Euroleague titles (2004 and 2005).

After a slow start to the domestic season, Maccabi Tel-Aviv are sitting pretty on tour of the Israeli league standings with a 21-6 record heading towards the playoffs – eyeing off a 49th league crown.
