Aussies Abroad: Ingles, Mills and Cambage all fire

Australian Boomers star Joe Ingles had a breakout game as his Maccabi Tel-Aviv move within one game of top spot in the Israeli League, defeating Ironi Nes-Ziona 99-91 on Sunday.

After a stretch of reduced playing time, Ingles gave the Tel-Aviv fans a reminder of his quality, posting a season-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor to go with 4 assists and 5 steals in the high-scoring win.

The two-time Olympian has enjoyed a strong start to his debut campaign in Israel, helping the team to a 12-4 league record and to top of their group in the opening phase of Euroleague competition.

This broke Mills previous best mark of 5 three-pointers which he set against the Golden State Warriors in April of 2013.

Fellow Boomers star Aron Baynes also enjoyed some extended playing time in the 26-point victory, posting 6 points and 7 rebounds in just 19 minutes as the Spurs improved to 33-10.

Baynes backed up the performance with 6 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes as the Spurs suffered a narrow loss to the Miami Heat 113-107 on Sunday.

It was a weekend for career nights in the NBA for our Australians, with Andrew Bogut blocking a remarkable 7 shots in the Golden State Warriors 121-120 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The effort – along with 8 points and 11 rebounds – equalled a career-high for Bogut and was the first time he had blocked 7 shots in a game since January of 2011.
