Rollers ready for Champions Cup

The Australian Rollers Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team have landed in Japan for the 2013 Kitakyushu Champions Cup, playing some of the world’s best teams in preparation for next week’s 2013 IWBF Asia-Oceania Zone Championships in Thailand.

Tipping off on Friday, the Champions Cup will see the Rollers face opposition from Japan, South Korea and the 2012 Paralympic gold medallist, Canada in a three-day round-robin tournament before heading to Bangkok, Thailand to take on the region’s best teams.

The IWBF Asia-Oceania Zone Championships act as the qualifiers for next year’s IWBF World Championships in South Korea, with three spots up for grabs in the region.

Action starts on Friday for the Rollers, tipping off the Kitakyushu Champions Cup against Canada at 3:00pm AEDT.
