Aussies Abroad: Jawai stars in Euroleague

A monster game from Australian Boomers big man Nathan Jawai couldn’t stop defending Euroleague champions Olympiacos from taking a tough win on the road over his Galatasaray, going down 78-67 in the second round of competition.

Jawai had arguably the standout game of his Euroleague career, posting 22 points on 7-of-8 from the field (8-of-11 FT) and 5 rebounds in just 24 minutes. The former Cairns Taipans star enjoyed a breakout game for the Turkish giants after playing a limited role in the opening Turkish Basketball League games.

Joe Ingles led from the front as Maccabi Tel-Aviv got their first win of the season, defeating Serbian outfit Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade 96-82 in Euroleague action. The Australian Boomers star had 16 points and 5 assists in a game-high 34 minutes on court.

The Australian Boomers big exited the Warriors game against the Los Angeles Lakers last week with back spasms, but appears to be back to full health, playing 29 minutes.
