U19's Women's Team To Tour China Announced As Countdown Continues To World Champs

Basketball Australia today announced the U19 Australian Women’s team selected to tour China in May as the countdown to the 2013 FIBA World Championships in Lithuania in July continues.

Leading the Gems will be 2012/13 WNBL Rookie of the Year Stephanie Talbot from the Adelaide Lightning, along with fellow AIS Centre of Excellence Scholarship holders Louise Brown, Darcee Garbin, Alicia Froling, Tiana Mangakahia, Maddison Penn & Alex Wilson.

The team was selected following the Gems training camp earlier this month. Players will return to their respective states for the month of April before flying out to China where they will play nine games in the four nation event.

Following the China tour, the team will return to Australia where a team to tour France in June will be selected.

A selection camp for the team to compete at the FIBA World Championship will be conducted 29 June - 2 July at Basketball Australia’s National Centre of Excellence at the AIS in Canberra.
