U19's Men's Team To Tour China Announced As Emus Prepare For World Champs In June

Basketball Australia today announced the Under 19 Men’s National Team to play in a four nation event in China next month as preparations for the 2013 FIBA U19’s World Championship in July gather momentum.

The 12 man team, selected at the conclusion of the Emus camp at the Basketball Australia National Centre of Excellence at the AIS Canberra yesterday features Mirko Djeric, who is currently playing in the NBL finals with the Wollongong Hawks, along with Nick Duncan, Fabijan Krslovic, Felix Von Hofe and Gerard Martin - who were also members of the U17’s men’s team that won silver at last year’s FIBA U17 World Championships in Lithuania.

The team will fly out for China on April 16 where they will play nine games in the four nation event against the Chinese National Team, Lithuanian Youth Team and a U.S.A selected team, made up mostly of NCAA players.

A third Emus camp for the year will be held in May at the Centre of Excellence before a team is selected for a tour of the Czech Republic & Lithuania from 23 May-3 June.

A final team for the World Championships will be selected in early June with most of the team then taking part in a four nation tournament in Spain against Russia, Spain and the US from 21-23 June.
