O'Hea back to WNBA, while Snell in Euroleague Final 8

Jayco Australian Opals star is heading back to the WNBA for the 2013 season, formally putting pen-to-paper on a contract that will see her return to the Los Angeles Sparks for a third season.

O’Hea impressed in her short post-Olympics stint with the Sparks, playing vital minutes as the club reached the WNBA Western Conference Semi Finals.

In has been a hectic 18 months for O’Hea, playing a key role in the Dandenong Rangers WNBL Championship before helping the Opals to a fifth consecutive Olympic Medal, followed by a stint with Sparks in the WNBA.

There has been no time to rest since returning to home shores, with the Rangers just one game away from consecutive WNBL Grand Finals, with the defending champs hosting the Townsville Fire in the Preliminary Final on Sunday 3 March at
Dandenong Stadium.

Belinda Snell’s CCC Polkowice have advanced to the final eight of the FIBA Women’s Euroleague competition after a knockout round win over Nadezhda.
Snell, a member of the Opals Bronze Medal-winning team in London, had a game-high 28 points to guide her Polish team into the business end of the tournament.

The sharp-shooter was 8-of-16 from the field and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line, enhancing her already impressive average of 15.9 points and 5 rebounds per game through the 13 games of Euroleague competition.

Snell’s team will play three games in three days in the round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Final Four tournament.

Final 8 play begins on March 18 with CCC Polkowice facing UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia.
