Gems squad announced for first camp of 2013

The road to the 2013 FIBA Under 19 Women’s World Championships begins now for the Australian Gems, with a 22-strong squad announced for the March camp at the Basketball Australia National Centre of Excellence at the AIS, Canberra.

An ultra-talented squad brings together a host of AIS athletes past and present along with some of the rising stars of the WNBL competition, led by 2012 Betty Watson WNBL Rookie of the Year Carley Mijovic.

The Dandenong Rangers star will be accompanied by no fewer than 12 WNBL players, with many recent graduates and current scholarship holders of the AIS program, including Casey Samuels (Canberra Capitals), Darcee Garbin (West Coast Waves) and Stephanie Talbot (Adelaide Lightning).

The squad, under the watchful eye of Gems coach Cheryl Chambers, will be in camp from 13-16 March ahead of a tour of China in April.
