Opals star Bishop wins Aussie battle in LFB

It was an Australian Opals affair in the LFB French Women’s Basketball League, with Cayla Francis, Marianna Tolo and their Aix-en-Province edged out by Abby Bishop’s third-ranked Perpignan 72-70 over the weekend.

Bishop, who is the top 10 in points and steals, had 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting and pulled down 9 boards, a team high. Tolo tied a game-high with 20 points as she converted on 8-of-10 shots from the floor and played a game high 37 minutes for her squad in the loss. Francis played efficiently as well, scoring 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting and converting on 6-of-6 free throw attempts. She also secured a game-high 10 rebounds.


Erin Phillips returned to the court in Poland recently, signing a short-term contract with Euroleague club Wisla Can-Pak.

Returning to the club where she spent the past two European seasons, Phillips had an immediate impact, scoring 7 points in 14 minutes in the team’s 77-57 Polish League win over Energa Torun.


Guard Natalie Hurst’s Hungarian team Hat-Argo Uni Gyor are set for a busy period in the coming weeks as they manage the Second Stage of the Hungary A-Division as well as their Euroleague playoff commitments.

Hurst has been a key piece of team’s success this season, averaging 13.7 points and 3.9 assists in domestic games and 12 points and 4.6 assists in Euroleague competition.
