WNBA Champion Erin Phillips returns to action in Poland

Australian international basketball star Erin Phillips is back on court, joining Polish team Wisla Can-Pak for the remainder of the European season.

A key member of the Indiana Fever’s 2012 WNBA Championship run, Phillips returns to the court after enjoying some much-deserved break and has wasted little settling back into life at her Polish club.

Returning to the club where she spent the past two European seasons, Phillips had an immediate impact, scoring 7 points in 14 minutes in the team’s 77-57 Polish League win over Energa Torun.

After spending much of the WNBA season coming off the bench, Phillips was thrust into the starting line-up for the playoffs where she became the teams’ three-point go-to, culminating in averaging 13.5 points per game in the WNBA Finals against Minnesota Lynx.

Phillips finished the playoffs averaging 10.1 points, shooting the three-ball at a remarkable 51.7% on her way to her first WNBA title.

The arrival of Phillips in Europe comes as the season for Wisla Can-Pak gets to the business end, with just two games remaining in the Polish League regular season and the Euroleague advancing to the playoff rounds.

Currently Wisla Can-Pak sit third of the PLKK ladder two games behind fellow Aussie Belinda Snell’s CCC Polkowice.
