Much like their male counterparts, the Australian women’s team carried on their great form from the pool rounds through the knockout stages, with big wins over Papua New Guinea and Fiji on their way to a Gold Medal match-up with New Zealand.
In their toughest challenge of the week-long tournament, the Australians withstood a determined Kiwi team to take the Gold 67-49.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the hosts as the Kiwis threatened to spoil the party, leading 17-13 at the end of the first period.
