Basketball Australia Chief Executive Officer Kristina Keneally has told the Australian Financial Review that regular free-to-air time slots and the broadcasting of every match online through NBL.TV have led to high crowd and TV viewer numbers for the National Basketball League this season.
In an interview with the AFR’s John Stensholt, Ms. Keneally said that NBL crowds are rising and fans have been receptive to the league’s new digital subscription platform.
“We were asking people to buy a new product, an untested product that they have not experienced before,” Ms. Keneally said of NBL.TV. “Yet they have and they keep coming back to it.”
Ms. Keneally also talked about NBL expansion and the inclusion of WNBL games on the digital broadcast platform during the course of the interview.
