Aussies playing starring role in France

Former WNBL trio Abby Bishop, Marianna Tolo and Cayla Francis have taken French basketball by storm as they continue the fine tradition of Australian players in Europe.

Fresh from capturing a Bronze Medal for the Opals at the 2012 London Olympic Games, former Adelaide Lightning forward Bishop has enjoyed a dominant debut season at Perpignan, helping her new team to third on the LFB ladder.

The South Australian star is currently second in the league for scoring (14.4 points per game) and leads her team in points, rebounds (5.7 per game) and steals (1.6).
While the results might not be as impressive for Tolo and Francis, the impact they have had on their Aix-en-Provence team has been significant.

Former Canberra Capitals star Tolo has emerged as one of the league’s premier offensive stars, averaging 12.9 points per game to rank ninth in the league, while averaging 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks (ranked fourth in the league).

Logan Thunder’s Francis has enjoyed a dominant season to date, establishing herself as the premier inside presences in the competition, leading the league in rebounds (9.9 per game) and blocks (2.1) to go with her 11.7 points per game.

Aix-en-Provence sit ninth on the ladder with a 3-6 record ahead of their clash with fellow strugglers Arras, while Perpignan take on Lyon in Round 10 action this weekend.
