Spanish Olympic coach to visit Australia

Highly-credentialed Spanish basketball coach Juan Orenga will be gracing our shores this month as part of the 2012 FIBA Oceania Pacific Youth Championships, looking to pass on his decades of knowledge at the international level to our coaches.

Orenga boasts an impressive coaching and playing CV, having played for Spain on 128 occasions – including the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games – before helping Spain to the Silver Medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games as an assistant coach.

As part of his tour of Australia and New Zealand, Orenga will work attending the opening days of the FIBA Oceania Pacific Youth Championships, working with players and coaches as well as hosting a community coaching forum in the host city, Churchill in the Gippsland region of Victoria.

Orenga will host additional coaching clinics in Melbourne (Tuesday November 27) and Sydney (Wednesday November 28), accessible to coaches of all levels.

This opportunity was created through a partnership between the FIBA Oceania, the Spanish Basketball Federation (FeB) and the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC).
