Melbourne Tigers claim U14 Girls Club C'ship

After a full week of games at Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium, Saturday was the day as we headed into the Classification and Medal games, both for the Shield and Championship Divisions.

Dandenong Rangers defeated Coffs Harbour Suns in the Gold Medal Shield match winning the Rachael Sporn Shield with a finishing score of 55-37.  Top Scorers for Dandenong were Jazmin Shelley with 13 points and Amy Baum with 11 points, and top scorer from Coffs Harbour Suns was Alexandra Campbell with 18 points.

For the Gold Medal Championship match, it was an all Victorian State game where defending Champions Melbourne Tigers met with Hawthorn Magic.

Both teams were undefeated throughout these championships but it was Melbourne Tigers taking the Gold and the Michele Timms Trophy for the second year in a row, 62-32. 

Top scorers from Melbourne Tigers were Najvada George and Birana Babic both with 11 points each and the top scorers from Hawthorn Magic were Charlotte Coloe with 8 points and Grace Burke with 7 points.

Bronze Medal for Shield Division goes to Central Districts Lions of South Australia and Bronze Medal for Championship Division goes to Norths Bears of NSW.

The Jenny Cheesman Fair Play Award goes to Canberra Capitals, congratulations on this award.

This week has seen some excellent Basketball and all spectators and parents who have attended these Championships, sure have been delighted in the high standard of games that have been played.

Congratulations to all teams who competed in the 2012 U14 Girls Championships, you have made your fellow team mates, coaches and parents very proud of your achievements and you have given everyone a spectacular week of Basketball, well done.
