The Jayco Opals Australian women’s national basketball team has suffered a late blow on the day of the opening match of their Farewell Series against Brazil, with superstar Lauren Jackson ruled out of tonight’s Game One at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena as a precaution due to a hamstring problem.

Jackson participated in team shootaround this morning but has been hampered by some tightness in her hamstring.  As a result, the medical staff were forced to rule her out of tonight’s Game One in order to ensure the hamstring does not disrupt her campaign in London.

The move was a purely precautionary one however and the Jayco Opals medical staff are optimistic Jackson will be able to rejoin her teammates on the floor later in The Farewell Series.

Tonight’s Game One has seen over 9,000 tickets already sold, with the Australian Boomers men’s team also hosting Greece in Game One of their Farewell Series clash.
