Newley signs with Valencia, Spain

Aussie swingman Brad Newley is set to join fellow Boomers squad member AJ Ogilvy in Spain after it was announced today that he will play out the remainder of this season with Valencia.

Newley leaves fellow Eurocup side Lietuvos Rytas, Lithuania after averaging 3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game in Euroleague Qualifying Round. In VTB League Newley has averaged 2.4 points and 3.2 rebounds while delivering 4.5 points and 3.4 boards per game in LKL.

Valencia currently sit in seventh position on the ACB ladder with an 8-7 record on the season. Newley brings size and athleticism to the 2/3 spot, in addition to extensive European experience, having suited up with Panionios (2007/08), Panellinios (2008/09) and Besiktas (2009/10), before he moved to Lietuvos Rytas in 2010.

Last season Newley started for Rytas in the Euroleague and produced perhaps his best stint so far in Europe, averaging 7.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15 games, leading the side to a top 16 finish.
