The final four teams remaining in the 2011 NWBL season fought out an enthralling weekend of basketball action with the Wollongong Roller Hawks, behind 48 points from Australian Rollers representative Tristan Knowles, defeating the Be Active Perth Wheelcats 95-85 on Sunday to claim the title.
The Roller Hawks were outstanding in the final. They have been in the final for the past four years against Perth and were well coached by Australian Gliders assistant coach Ben Osborne, winning their first title since 2003. Perth have been champions for the past five years, led by the Australian Rollers players Brad Ness, Justin Eveson, Shaun Norris and Michael Hartnett.
The finals were televised and will be shown next Saturday on Aurora TV – see telecast schedule below.
