“With several of our experienced players retired or unavailable for selection, we are taking a young team to the World Championships," said coach Davidson.
"This will ensure the Pearls have a broader experience base when looking at selection in 2011 for the next Global Games. Recently confirmed as the number one ranked team in the world, the Pearls have a rich history of success,” he said.
Eleven year veteran, Nicole Skerman, from Queensland will be supported by experienced Pearls Karina Baines from Sydney, Eliza Barden from Orange, and Mina Aldobasic and Kaitlyn Papworth from Melbourne.
Taking their second tour for the Pearls are Bernadette Barden from Orange and Melissa Marlborough from Newcastle.
Five players will be making their International debut in Portugal: Nicole Harris from NSW, and four players from Melbourne, Danni Burden, Sam Hough, Monique Favero and Natasha Excell.
“I am excited by the youth, fitness and enthusiasm that these new players bring, which compliments the experienced players," said Davidson.
"Our team of 12 Pearls has a good balance to it and the experience that will be gained at these Championships will provide an excellent platform for the future.”
The Pearls will depart Australia mid-November for the World Championships.
