In a three-year agreement with the company's distributor, TNF Group, Champion will outfit all ten WNBL clubs with on-court and off-court apparel for the upcoming seasons.
TNF Group Managing Director Guy Tuthill said “Champion Australia is delighted to have secured a three year sponsorship of the WNBL competition in Australia.
“As the exclusive apparel supplier to the WNBL, Champion Australia looks forward to providing high quality team uniforms and supporting the League as it continues to grow and prosper in Australia.”
Champion was founded in 1919 and is a global apparel brand — one that has a strong association with the sport. The company is an Official Partner of FIBA, and has previously kitted out teams in the NBA, as well as teams in other sporting competitions such as the English Premier League.
Champion is also known as the inventor and leading manufacturer of sports bras in the United States, with 15 of the top 20 sellers. This represents a perfect opportunity for the company to align its range of elite female sportswear with an elite female league that has produced World Champions.
Champion will be using WNBL athletes in their retail marketing programs.
As per standard Basketball Australia policy, the financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The announcement follows the recent partnership between Basketball Australia and new ball sponsor Spalding, and the National Basketball League’s new apparel partner And1.
