Mills shines in Summer League debut

Golden Star Australian Boomers point guard Patty Mills had his first taste of NBA Summer League action overnight, and it was sweet.

Going against the Summer League tradition of selfish play, Mills had a game high nine assists to go with 12 points, seven rebounds and a steal as he helped Portland to a 1-0 start in Las Vegas, downing the Houston Rockets, 84-67.

Mills was on court for 26 minutes 31 seconds to shoot 5-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range.

Joe Ingles is once again suiting up for the Golden State Warriors in Vegas. Ingles started in the Warriors’ opening game but only put up two points and two rebounds in his 19 minutes. His second game was more impressive, playing 17 minutes off the bench for five points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist today.

AJ Ogilvy will make his NBA Summer League debut for the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday July 14 6.00am AEST against the Denver Nuggets.

After taking the court for the Charlotte Bobcats at the Orlando Summer League, Nathan Jawai has secured a place on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster for Vegas. The Cavaliers play their first Summer League game on Wednesday July 14 at 8.00am AEST.
