Andersen stars in Euroleague Final Four

Australia's dual Olympic basketballer David Andersen scored a team high 24 points for Spain's Regal Barcelona in the opening game of the 2009 Euroleague Basketball Final Four in Berlin overnight but it wasn't enough to stop Russia's CSKA Moscow advancing to the Championship game with an 82-78 victory.

Moscow’s Ramunas Siskauskas was the hero after scoring 18 of his career-high 29 points in the fourth quarter, including all the points in an 11-0 run that gave CSKA its first lead.

CSKA advanced to the Euroleague title game for the fourth year in a row and will face Panathinaikos on Monday morning Australian time after it defeated Greek rival Olympiacos in the other Semi Final, 84-82.

Andersen’s Regal Barcelona will meet Olympiacos in the playoff for third at 1:00am Australian Eastern Time on Monday morning.

Andersen won two Euroleague Championships with CSKA Moscow in 2006 and 2008 and one with Italy’s Kinder Bologna in 2001 and represented Australia at the Athens and Beijing Olympic Games.

The winner of the Euroleague Championship earns the right to be called the best club team in European basketball.
