Representatives from all eleven Australian Defence Force Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) clubs converged on Sydney yesterday to take part in an annual workshop to discuss the operation, marketing, media and general day-to-day functioning of the league.
Held at the Basketball Australia offices in Mascot, the annual conference provides league and club decision makers an opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss any issues affecting the WNBL.
The workshop included a presentation from five-time championship winning coach Carrie Graf (Canberra Capitals) about the future of the game and an update on the current Basketball Australia/NBL and High Performance reviews from Basketball Australia Chief Executive Scott Derwin
New club Logan Thunder was represented by former Boomer Mark Dalton who is the club’s General Manager while Basketball New Zealand CEO Dale Stephens also attended.
“This annual, two-day workshop provides a fantastic platform for the league and all eleven clubs to get together face-to-face to brainstorm, debate and work as a group to identify ways we can further enhance the WNBL and openly talk about anything to do with the league,” said Basketball Australia, General Manager, National Teams and Competitions, Lorraine Landon.
“We all have a great passion for the league so to bounce ideas off each other and see what we all are doing was great.
“We covered off a vast array of topics and everyone left motivated to get straight to work ahead of the 2008/09 ADF WNBL season.”
The workshop concluded at midday today.
