2008 Australia Post Boomer squad members Aleks Maric and Aaron Bruce have been selected to play at this week's Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) in Virginia, one of the most important scouting events before the NBA Draft.

Each year for 55 years the P.I.T has invited 64 of the best college basketball players (seniors) from across the nation to participate in a four-day, twelve game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team.

Maric (pictured below) has just completed his senior year (fourth year) with the University of Nebraska and Bruce (pictured right), a 2006 World Championship player, was a senior with Baylor University.

Recognized by the NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players, the P.I.T. is the only tournament for college seniors to participate in and be evaluated by the National Basketball Association prior to the NBA's pre-draft camp in Orlando.

The 64 invited players are divided into eight teams of eight players with most teams bearing the name of tournament sponsors.

Maric will play as the lone centre for Sales System LTD team while Bruce is one of four guards in the Tidewater Sealants outfit.

Both will be in action on the opening night – Wednesday, April 9 – with Maric and co facing the Norfolk Naval Shipyard team at 9pm local time and Bruce and the Tidewater Sealants playing the Portsmouth Holiday Inn team at 7pm local time.
