The squad for Australia’s under 19 women’s basketball team, the Gems, has been condensed to 16 players.

The athletes that did not make the reduced squad were Louella Tomlinson (AIS), Hope Terdich (Melbourne) and Stephanie Cumming (Dandenong).

The reduction was made final in advance of a camp set to take place in Canberra from April 27 to April 29.

The Gems will play a game against the Australian Capital Territory Under 18 boy’s side on the Saturday night of that camp as a curtain raiser to the AIS men’s SEABL game.

Four further personnel cuts will be made before the Gems depart for the 2007 FIBA World Championship for Under 19 women, which will be held in the Slovak Republic from July 22 to August 7.

Basketball Australia would like to congratulate all those selected.
