Basketball Australia is pleased to announce that its submissions for coaches for the 2007 World University Games teams have been approved by the Australian University Sports Association.

Former NBL head coach Bruce Palmer (pictured right) will lead the men’s team, while Sydney University Flames head coach Karen Dalton (pictured below) will lead the women’s team.

Palmer coached the Australian Youth Team at the FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament in October 2006 and currently coaches the Southern Districts men's team in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL).

Two-time Olympian and former Opals assistant coach Karen Dalton led Sydney Uni to the minor premiership of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) in January 2007.

Paul Mesecke, a former AIS scholarship coach and currently the head coach of the Sturt Sabres in the Australian Basketball Association (ABA), has been named assistant coach of the Australian University men’s team.

David Herbert, the current head coach of the Townsville Fire in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), has been named assistant coach of the Australian University women’s team.

Greg Warnecke (men’s) and Kristi Dench (women’s) are the team managers.

The World University Games will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from August 8-18.
