KIGALI - Sudan and Eritrea have been ejected from the forthcoming All Africa Games qualifiers.

Both teams had been scheduled to play in the Zone V Championships taking place in Kigali, Rwanda throughout February, but governing body FIBA advised that their inclusion in the event should be curtailed with immediate effect.

National Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) technical director, Innocent Karuhije said: "Sudan failed to secure adequate funds to take part in the event while Eritrea's sudden pull-out is still unknown."

The duo's unscheduled elimination means just 11 countries will now compete in the Games.

Hosts Rwanda will be joined by Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Seychelles and Djibouti
