Bogut Watch
Your weekly update on the progress of Australia Post Boomers centre Andrew Bogut in America.
With Milwaukee still missing four of their starting five, Andrew Bogut took it upon himself to keep the Bucks' playoff aspirations alive with a milestone stretch of games.
The Bucks dropped consecutive games to the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers but recorded a Bogut and new recruit Earl Boykins inspired 99-91 win over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Over the three games, Bogut amassed 54 points on 29-of-44 shooting (66%), 53 rebounds, 12 assists, 4 blocked shots and a steal in 130 minutes on court, highlighted by a career high 27-point haul against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Bucks coach Terry Stotts praised Bogut’s performance given the heavy injury toll currently gripping his team.
“Andrew, particularly in the first half, was pretty tough on the block. I think that was probably the best game of his career as far as scoring on the block,” Stotts said.
While Bogut, who ranks 6th in the NBA for field shooting percentage (57%), said he was pleased with posting three massive double-doubles in as many games.
“I'm just playing basketball now,” Bogut said. “As opposed to trying to be one-dimensional, I'm trying to do what I'm good at, going to my strengths.
“I don't think about it now, really, before I do it. It's just a relief to get a win. No matter who it's against or where it's at, it's just good.”
The Bucks (17-20) remain on the bottom of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference with a 9-and-6 home record and a 8-and-14 away record.
